For the ultimate food and wine experience, travel to the picturesque island of Jamaica for the 10th Annual Epicurean Escape event at the Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa.

When it’s time to get away from it all, who can resist turquoise blue waters, warm, balmy days and powdery white sand beaches including an exiting nightlife? These are all of the elements for a great vacation in Negril, Jamaica. Located on the western tip of the island near Bloody Bay, the city has a vibe of casual, friendly Jamaican hospitality.

Negril, Jamaica Home to Late Bob Marley and Epicurean Escape Culinary Event

Negril is famous for its seven- mile long sandy beach with outstanding sunsets. The island of Jamaica, compared to other Caribbean islands, is quite large measuring at 146 miles and is the home of the late legendary reggae superstar, Bob Marley. The country is known for their spicy and flavorful cuisine with popular dishes such as jerk chicken, curried goat and rice & peas. In the city of Negril, you will find a bountiful list of great restaurants and roadside cafes for your eating pleasure, along with interesting tours offered outside of Negril.

For a vacation this year, consider going to the city of Negril to the Epicurean Escape event at the Grand Lido Resort & Spa. This event will be for five glorious days from June 24th though June 28th. As in past years, Food & Wine Magazine will also host this gourmet experience.

As a guest at the resort, expect fun filled days of cooking classes and demonstrations led by local and celebrity chefs from the United States and from around the world. The chefs to appear for this year’s event is still being determined, but one celebrity chef expected to appear at this years event is Darren McGrady who has served as Queen of England’s personal chef!

Darren McGrady served 15 years of royal service to Queen Elizabeth II and also Princess Diana of Wales. The chef has also made special appearances on CNN’s Larry King Live, the CBS Early Show in New York and has made numerous appearances for various television and radio stations in Europe and England. Chef McGrady’s impressive background includes catered banquets for President Bush, Clinton, Reagan and Ford. To learn more about him visit his website at www.theroyalchef.com

Educational Wine Seminars and Mixology Classes

Besides a great team of culinary experts to come to this year’s event at the Grand Lido Resort & Spa, visitors can expand their wine knowledge by taking daily educational wine seminars by sommeliers, offering information on a variety of wine styles. At these seminars, there will be many opportunities to taste a grand scale of wines from around the world. For guests who are not particularly fond of wine, but love having a great cocktail, consider taking the mixology classes to learn how to make the perfect drink.

The event is not restricted to only daytime activities for this food extravaganza, as the resort will also host nightly galas with live entertainment and parties. The last night of this culinary dream vacation ends with an elaborate seven-course dinner, where guests can indulge their food senses with more delicious wines paired for this special evening before departing back home.

Expect to pay a steep price for this Caribbean escape. The price range for this culinary vacation is not for the budget traveler but for someone who is willing to pay the amount of money required for a gourmet food experience they will never forget. Prices start at $1,992 per person and includes all food, drinks and activities. This vacation can be booked directly online at Expedia.com.
