Searching for fresh fruits and vegetables? Looking for a fine wine? Craving homemade baked goods? Charlton Orchards Farm & Winery carries all of the above and more.

Owned by the Benjamin family, this lush landscape is one of the earliest settled areas in New England. In 1773 King George of England rewarded Obadiah McIntyre with a 300-acre land grant. Today more than 100 acres are used to deliver everything from fresh strawberries and peaches to tomatoes and rhubarb.

Pick Fruits and Veggies for Healthy Eating

Seasonal fruits and vegetables are best when picked right off of the vine, tree or bushel they grew from. Guests are invited to pick their favorites seven days a week from the beginning of June through the end of October. There are blueberries, peaches, cucumbers, pumpkins, lettuce, nectarines and squash, all pesticide free and ready to be the star of the evening’s recipe.

Even the grapes and pears used in the winery are grown here. Take a tractor tour to see just how vast this vineyard and farm land really is. There are picnic spots available for those looking to unwind and relax.

Farm Foods for Every Course

In 2002, the Obadiah McIntyre Farm Winery opened. Today, more than 20 varieties are available. From spicy, deep reds to sweet, fruity whites, the award-winning wines continue to please palettes. There are also seasonal sparkling beverages and hard cider available. Meet the winemakers during tastings, which are available each weekend throughout the year. Tours of the winery tours available by reservation.

For a main course, Farm Fresh Natural Beef is available. The cattle on the farm are grass-fed. No growth hormones or artificial preservatives are used. Using this process, customers are delivered tasty pieces of meat that are safe to eat. A variety of cuts are offered, including rib-eyes and T-bones.

Charlton Orchards Farm & Winery also houses a bakery. Fresh-baked pies, apple dumplings and cookies are sold inside of the farm store. Pick up a favorite treat and pair it with a favorite wine to bring to a dinner party. Gift baskets of different sizes are available. Additional items sold are jams, jellies, relishes and salad dressings.

It’s Not Just for Shopping

Throughout the year there, a variety of events are held. There are cookouts, steak dinners and BBQs throughout the summer months. We-Like-It homemade ice cream is sold at the We’ll-Scoop-It ice cream stand during the summer and fall. Occasionally, bands perform under the covered stage. A 2300 square foot tent keeps attendees dry while dancing. Weddings, meetings and social gathering space can be reserved. There is even an annual free Bluegrass Festival.
