The city of Newport has a lot to offer visitors who vacation here. Newport has a huge number of events that happen all year long including the Newport Jazz Festival and Newport Folk Festival. The city is rich in history and many of the buildings date back to the revolutionary times.

Newport is mainly known to visitors for their gorgeous, historical mansions. The Newport Wine & Food Festival will begin on Friday, September 25th at the Breakers mansion for a vintage evening of gourmet food, music and silent auction of various wines.

Newport-City of Legendary Mansions

The Breakers mansion was originally a wooden house until it was redesigned in 1893 to an Italian style villa. Cornelius Vanderbilt II requested to do the new architecture and had architect Richard Morris Hunt, to create the elaborate, seventy room home.
