Vacationers at the Bruce Peninsula will enjoy fresh fish and a variety of excellent meals at these two fine restaurants, which are open all year long.
Allan's Fireside Grill is one of the most pleasant places to enjoy lunch in the Bruce Peninsula. A varied and appetizing menu will tickle your taste buds and you will have the option of dining inside or on the large sheltered patio. Located at 623 Green Street in Port Elgin, Allan's offers everything from a formal meal to a 'wings and beer' feast while watching the game on their television set. CateringAllan"s Fireside Grill has a catering service for 25 to 250 people, along with the Liquor Licensing Board of Ontario permit to take drinks to your event. This service is offered as well as the usual dining at the site. The outdoor patio has a fire pit and Muskoka chairs, for a warm and inviting atmosphere. They also have an on-site party room for 6 to 22 people, and a take-out service as well. SpecialtiesThere are several great choices at Allan's, such as flaky Hake fillets, battered with Alexander Keith's beer ($10.99) and Lemon Pepper Salmon at $15.99. The pastas include a Tomato and Cheese Cappelletti, an oven-baked stuffed pasta tossed in an Alfredo blush sauce and fresh tomato pesto, for $12.99 and a Shrimp Linguine tossed in a creamy Alfredo sauce for $14.99. RibsAllan's prepare their pork back ribs by slow hickory smoking, with a choice of sauces, including Apple Butter: Guinness BBQ and Maple BBQ. A half rack of ribs is $16.99, with the full rack going for $21.99. This meal is served with a choice of side dish and baked beans or coleslaw. Childrens' MenuThere is a childrens' menu which is available for kids under ten. Ask the server what is on for that day and enjoy! Along with the usual assortment of burgers, sandwiches and wraps ($8.49 to $11.99), there are specials of the day and a great array of salads. The service is excellent and the servers are very pleasant. All in all a delightful experience in casual dining. Lord ElginAnother place that is very popular in Port Eli\gin is the Lord Elgin Fish and Chip Restaurant, which serves probably the best fish and chips in the area. Once again the service is very good, the food is excellent and there are many types of fish from which to choose. The best time to go is at the lunch hour as the dinner hour is usually crowded with standing room. The dinners begin at $10.99. For fish and chips without the usual grease take a trip to the Lord Elgin. Two very fine restaurants in the small town of Port Elgin for vacationers and regulars.
