Centara Grand Hotel at Central World Plaza augments Bangkok's fine dining experience with the pan-Asian Restaurant called Ginger, where the gamut of Asian cuisine awaits
Bangkokians and visitors to the city are faced with an embarrassment of excellent restaurants offering every kind of cuisine and it is not an exaggeration to say that, in the fine dining stakes Bangkokians are spoiled for choice Two Great RestaurantsAiming to join the elite eateries are Ginger and Red Sky at Bangkok’s Centara Grand Hotel at World Plaza. These two restaurants will certainly give the competition a run for their money. On the 24th floor of the Centara Grand is Ginger the hotel’s signature restaurant. Cleverly designed Ginger is both a light and roomy space and at the same time intimate and friendly. Pan-Asian CuisineThis effect has been achieved by the use of two distinctive cuisine niches the sushi and the teppanyaki stations along with four discrete oval-shaped dining rooms that are suitable for private dining parties. Two of these rooms abut the kitchen and their floor to ceiling glass walls provides a fascinating glimpse of life in the kitchen and of the chefs preparing your very own meal. These dining areas are extra to The Aqua Bar Ginger restaurant proper. But what about the food? The coupling of highly experienced French executive chef Michel Breilere and the young, dynamic and experimental Japanese chef Kenji Shindo is a match made in heaven. For they have raised the bar on modern Japanese food to such an extent that all others are in for a run for their lives. The couple have retained traditional Japanese techniques and melded them with Thai and Japanese food to create a pan-Asian delight. The dishes are not too spicy yet not at all bland that all taste and enjoyment is lost: a perfect combination of South East Asia meets Far East Asia. That is a difficult trick to execute and although many try only the few exceptionally gifted succeed and Chefs Michel and Kendo have achieved an unqualified and exceptional success at Ginger. An Aperitif at the Aqua BarEvery meal should start with an aperitif to sharpen the appetite and refresh the taste buds. Ginger’s Aqua Bar has an impressive selection of cocktails from straight classic creations to classics with a twist. Sublime MojitosThe mojito is so ubiquitous these days that it has become something of a cocktail cliché but the yuzu mojito, a speciality of the Aqua Bar it was subtly different with the addition of the tangy zest of a yuzu orange the combination of ingredients is guaranteed to perk up even the most jaded of palates. But don’t forget that this sweet minty-mild tasting concoction packs a powerful punch. Not satisfied with one of the best restaurants in any Bangkok hotel the Centara Grand had to top it with the opening of “Red Sky”, an al fresco eatery 55 floors above the streets of central Bangkok.
