The Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa is hosting a series of special food and wine events in 2007, kicking off with dinner and fine French wines under the sea!
Can you imagine anything more incongruous than sipping Chateau Latour, watched by stingrays and other marine creatures, 16 feet beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean?
Well, this unique experience can be yours at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa in February, when Chateau Latour’s Frederic Engerer will be visiting the luxury hotel and hosting two dinners and a wine tasting.
With a history dating back to the 14th century, Chateau Latour is known for consistently producing exceptional wines, considered by experts as among the best in the world.
On Thursday, February 15, 16 guests will dine in the hotel's Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, surrounded by a dazzling coral reef, to a theme of 'red wine with fish': fish on the menu and fish through the windows.
The following day, 12 guests will enjoy a lavish dégustation dinner around the oak table in the resort's underground wine cellar, hosted by Frederic Engerer. Each course will be
accompanied by wines from the Chateau Latour collection with food prepared by the resort's Executive Chef to match each wine.
Menus and prices for the Chateau Latour events are still to be confirmed. Bookings and enquiries can be made directly through the resort by email: maldives@hilton.com
This visit is the first of a series of specialist food and wine events planned by the award-winning resort, one of the most luxurious in the remote Maldives, in 2007. Also scheduled for next year is the visit to the resort by one of Italy's most renowned winemakers in April and some of Australia's best producers, accompanied by a famous chef in September.
